About Our Teachers

Ms. Rebecca Uys

Hello, I'm Rebecca. Holding a degree in Theatre Studies, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the world of dramatic arts. My journey includes successful ventures with LAMDA examinations and ABRSM, and I've been presenting monologues both in person and online since a young age, a passion I carried through high school. Currently, I'm thrilled to be teaching drama to students at BISI, where we explore a diverse range of theatre genres from around the globe. In my lessons, I strive to create an atmosphere where students not only enjoy being expressive but also find joy in learning new, engaging movements. My enthusiasm for the arts extends beyond the classroom; having pursued an IB certificate, I've dedicated myself to furthering my various artistic skills, making me a true arts enthusiast.

Ms. Mandy Stiebel

Mandy Stiebel has a MA Education (Drama) and brings many years of teaching and performing to this programme. Her first training and teaching began in South Africa and has taught in the UK, the Middle East, Central Asia and, now, in Turkey at the British International School Istanbul IB program. She has a particular interest in bringing more physicality and movement to performances and also enjoys story telling through masks and puppetry. She is very passionate about the theatre and the benefit it brings to young people of any age.

Mr. Sean Dennison

Sean Dennison is approaching his twentieth year of teaching music in schools. He has a bachelor and masters degree in Music Education from universities in the USA and has experience teaching students ages 5 through university level. He taught for ten years in the USA as a band and orchestra director where his primary duties were to teach large ensembles for concerts and competitions. Sean began playing the clarinet when he was nine years old, eventually winning scholarships to go to universities, then teaching students that won their own places in honors bands and orchestras. Sean also has experience playing in regional orchestras across the USA and China. Since leaving the USA, Sean began teaching music in private, primary schools which has placed an emphasis on his guitar playing and other fundamentals of music for young learners. His global experiences, pedagogy, and unique viewpoint gives students a place that both puts an emphasis on basic skills, as well as a musician’s individual voice.
